Salpa is a bonded leather material made from finely milled vegetable-tanned leather scraps, combined with natural fats and latex binders. It is a sustainable option as it recycles leather waste.
Salpa has a similar feel to veg tan leather and is used for prototypes, backing, leather reinforcement and linings. It is durable but not ideal for high-flex applications like watch straps or belts, as it may tear under stress. To prevent warping and tearing, it must be reinforced by sandwiching it between other materials.
Using Salpa is a cost-effective alternative to full-grain leather. It accepts glue well, is easy to cut and skive, and offers a sustainable, environmentally friendly option. However, it does have limitations, as it does not burnish and its durability may be limited in high-flex applications.
Made from 100% regenerated genuine veg tan leather scraps and fibers bonded with latex.
Thickness Options: 0.3mm, 0.4mm (1oz), 0.6mm, 0.8mm (2oz), 1.0mm, 1.2mm (3oz), 1.5mm, and 1.6mm (4oz).
